about

Let Erin Remember: I learned the air of this song from the Co Derry singer and banjo player Joe Diamond while we were playing together for a dance competition in Wales a few years back. The title here is taken from the Thomas Moore arrangement of the tune 'An Maidrín Rua', which Edward Bunting published his 1840 collection 'The Ancient Music of Ireland'. Moore was a master of obfuscation, particularly when it came to politics and I have attempted to mirror this in my treatment of the melody.
